Wildlife Hazard Management Plans
The Wildlife Hazard Management Plan (WHMP) is a document created to provide the strategy for reducing the risk that wildlife poses to safe airport operations. The plan is based on the Risk Assessment of Wildlife Hazards.
Loomacres Wildlife Management can assist the airport with the development of a Wildlife Hazard Management Plan that guides the airport at reducing the potential for bird and wildlife strikes while maintaining a suitable environment for both people and wildlife. Loomacres is available to update existing Wildlife Hazard Management Plans on an annual basis to ensure they meet the requirements of FAA, Title 14 Part 139.337 (e) & (f).
If there has been a significant wildlife strike. The Wildlife Hazard Management Plan identifies the specific actions the airport will need to take to mitigate the risk of wildlife strikes on or near the airport.
Wildlife Hazard Project Evaluations to Reduce Airport Wildlife Hazards
Construction projects on airfields can attract hazardous wildlife into the area. During construction, a variety of wildlife species can be attracted to areas of exposed soil, increasing the potential risk of a bird striking an aircraft. Construction projects can also overlook the potential development of attracting habitats, such as: perching and roosting locations, nesting habitats, food sources, wetland habitats and the creation of cover.

Planning Construction and Development Activities with Airport Wildlife Hazards in Mind
Construction projects on and near airports have the potential to create wildlife attracting habitat. These attractants may increase the hazardous wildlife activity near the airfield. FAA Advisory Circular 150/5200-33B advises airports against the creation of specific wildlife attracting habitats within certain separation zones to reduce the potential of increasing the presence of hazardous wildlife near the airfield.

Airport Turf and Seeding Consultation
Loomacres can provide you with seeding recommendations and can create custom turf mixes for airports throughout the US. Ideally, vegetation used on airfields must be aesthetically pleasing, tolerant of drought and vehicle traffic, unattractive to wildlife and low-maintenance.
