Is your staff hindered by Guns and Ammo shortages? Are you noticing empty shelves at your chain retailer or local gun shop? Well do not worry you are not alone! For Loomacres Wildlife Management we cover just about every state in the lower 48 to provide airports and municipalities with their wildlife management needs. Our staff has had to rummage multiple stores in multiple cities to try and find the necessary ammo to keep up with our client’s needs. Sometimes we cannot resort to just trapping, and depredation is in order.

Since Covid-19 hit the United States in March gun sales have been on the steady incline and has not stopped yet. The numbers in April, May and June are staggering with some states seeing a 400% jump in firearm sales. Some local gun store owners went from 10-20 customers a week to 20-30 an hour! But who cares about stats right? Where is the ammo and why can’t I buy any? This is America and when we want something, we want it now.

Well here is a few contributing factors as to why ammo is so tough to buy right now since the C-19 Pandemic.

  1. Gun Sales – Usually when one purchases a firearm and remember there has been 4 x the normal amount sold in the U.S.; we buy ammo! This has created a huge shortage for manufacturers keeping up with consumer demand.

  2. Stimulus Checks – With the Federal Government handing out stimulus checks to most households in America; an increase in money lead to an increase in sales. Simply put American’s love guns and ammo so we bought them.

  3. Doomsday Prepping – With an increase in crime, riots, and looting many of us stocked up on ammo and purchased guns to protect our property and our loved ones. Again, emptying the shelves.

  4. Furloughed Employees – Many ammo manufactures were deemed “non-essential” creating a work force shortage. If no one is at the plant manufacturing ammo then shelfs remain empty causing an increase in demand.

  5. Upcoming Hunting Season – If you are an outdoorsman or an avid hunter you know what is coming around the corner. Cooler nights, cold mornings, usually signals hunting season is nearby. With that; the time to sight in rifles and shotguns and get that much needed target practice has begun.

  6. Boredom – There is still a lot of people in this country either furloughed, unemployed or working from home. With more time on our hands and everyday seemingly resembling the movie Groundhogs Day; why not go shooting or hunting.

So, we know the factors contributing to the ammo shortage so what now and where to buy? If you want some resources or ideas on where to buy ammo, please fill out the contact fields below and someone will reach out to you.
